West Ryde Service Centre is an independent Porsche mechanic in West Ryde providing Porsche logbook servicing, diagnostics and mechanical repairs for drivers across Ryde and Sydney. Our workshop services Porsche 911, Cayenne, Macan, Panamera and Taycan models using specialist diagnostic equipment and genuine parts.
There's a reason Porsche owners are particular about who touches their car. A 911, Cayman, or Cayenne isn't just transportation — it's precision engineering that demands a workshop with the right diagnostic equipment, the right technical knowledge, and the right respect for the marque. West Ryde Service Centre has been that workshop for Sydney Porsche owners since 1981.
// PORSCHE MODELS WE SERVICE
Flat-six and flat-four engine servicing, PDK dual-clutch transmission fluid renewal, IMS bearing inspection on older models, and precision sport suspension setup.
V6 and V8 powertrain servicing, PDK transmission flushes, air suspension calibration, transfer case fluid replacement, and heavy-duty braking system overhauls.
800V high-voltage battery health diagnostics, electric motor cooling system service, two-speed transmission fluid check, and regenerative braking calibration.
V6 and V8 biturbo engine servicing, PDK transmission fluid renewal, air suspension calibration, and adaptive sport seat module diagnostics.
Maintain your factory warranty under Australian Consumer Law with full logbook servicing to strict Porsche schedules. We use Porsche-approved synthetic lubricants (A40, C40 or C30 standards), genuine OEM filters, and perform a comprehensive PIWIS diagnostic health check with every service.
From minor component replacements to complete mechanical overhauls, we handle water pump failures, thermostat replacements, oil cooler updates, vacuum system troubleshooting, and timing chain servicing across flat-4, flat-6, V6, V8, and hybrid powertrains using factory torque specifications and specialist Porsche tools.
Using dealership-level PIWIS Tester III and IV diagnostic platforms, we pinpoint complex electrical, engine management, and network communication faults. Our capabilities include live sensor telemetry analysis, control module coding, adaptation resets, and guided fault-finding across CAN bus and Ethernet protocols.
Protect your PDK dual-clutch transmission with dedicated fluid and filter maintenance. We drain and replace both hydraulic clutch control fluid and mechanical gear oil, fit a replacement sump pan with integrated filter, and execute a PIWIS clutch adaptation calibration. We also perform modular repairs for failed distance sensors and solenoid valve bodies.
Keep your Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system operating smoothly with targeted all-wheel drive servicing. We replace fluid in active multi-plate clutch transfer cases and front/rear differentials on Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Carrera 4 models. Regular fluid servicing prevents low-speed drivetrain binding and premature transfer case failure.
Specialised brake maintenance for standard steel discs and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). We fit low-dust OEM ceramic pads, replace wear sensors, install cross-drilled rotors, and execute DOT 4 low-viscosity brake fluid flushes. Our tools safely retract the Electric Parking Brake and calibrate stability control sensors.
Comprehensive suspension servicing tailored to Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and adaptive air systems. We diagnose and repair leaking air struts, failing compressor pumps, worn air valve blocks, and split control arm hydro-bushings. After replacement, we perform electronic ride-height calibrations via PIWIS.
Precision engine repairs for flat-6, flat-4, and V8 engines. We resolve known factory weaknesses including M96/M97 IMS bearing upgrades using direct-oil-feed bearings, Rear Main Seal leak repairs, Air-Oil Separator replacements, bore scoring diagnostics, and coolant pipe pinning on GT3 and Turbo Mezger engines.

I recently took my RS3 to WRSC Performance to have an eventuri turbo elbow and intake installed, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Shunt and his team were professional, honest, and upfront from the start. They explained exactly what would be done, kept me informed throughout the process, and completed the work within the timeframe they promised. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, and it’s clear they really know these cars inside and out. If you’re looking for true RS3 specialists who take pride in their work, WRSC Performance is the place to go. Thanks again to Shunt and the team, I highly recommend them!Posted on Google![]()

Outstanding service. Very quick, professional and just all round above and beyond. Found from the minute I walked in I was welcomed and given the time of day. Got two cards checked for a pinkslip on short notice and they processed both extremely quickly during my lunch breaks. Wish I could rate higher!Posted on Google![]()

As someone who works in the automotive industry myself and pays close attention to workmanship, service quality, and attention to detail, I can honestly say the team at West Ryde Service Centre (WRSC) have been exceptional. They’ve looked after both my G80 M3 and F95 X5M for servicing and tuning, and every experience has been professional from start to finish. Their communication, transparency, and genuine care for the cars really stand out. What I appreciate most is the attention to detail — not just mechanically, but in the overall customer experience as well. It’s rare to find a workshop that combines technical knowledge with such high standards of service and consistency. You can tell these guys are passionate about what they do, and they treat every vehicle with respect. It gives real peace of mind knowing the cars are in capable hands. Highly recommend WRSC to anyone looking for a trustworthy workshop that genuinely cares about quality.
We connect our factory PIWIS diagnostic system to perform a full vehicle module interrogation — logging historical fault codes, verifying ECU software levels, and reviewing live sensor telemetry across all Porsche control modules before turning a wrench.
Our Porsche specialist carries out a 50+ point structural, mechanical, and safety inspection — measuring brake thickness, evaluating fluid quality, testing suspension bushings, checking for coolant and oil seepage, and inspecting tyre wear against factory tolerances.
Transparent, itemised quote based on Porsche factory service schedules for your specific model and year. We explain what your Porsche needs, why it needs it, and what it costs — before any work begins. No surprises, no hidden charges.
We source genuine Porsche OEM parts and approved lubricants meeting strict factory specifications (Porsche A40, C40, or C30 oil approvals). Your warranty stays fully intact under Australian Consumer Law, and your Porsche performs exactly as designed.
Factory-trained technicians using PIWIS diagnostics and specialist Porsche tools. Every repair follows Porsche service manual procedures and torque specifications — from PDK clutch adaptations to air suspension calibration and IMS bearing retrofits.
Post-service PIWIS scan, comprehensive road test, and safety inspection. We perform necessary system adaptations — PDK clutch relearn, air suspension calibration — update your digital logbook, and provide a clear report upon handover.

INDEPENDENT vs DEALERSHIP
We run factory-level PIWIS Tester III diagnostic software — the same system used by Porsche dealerships — to read live data across all control modules, reset service indicators, and perform the guided fault finding that generic OBD2 scanners simply can't access. Whether it's a routine major service on a Macan, a PDK fluid change on a 911, or IMS bearing inspection on a 996/997, our technicians follow Porsche's own service protocols to the letter.
Under Australian Consumer Law (ACCC), you are not required to service at the dealership to maintain your new car warranty. As long as servicing is performed by a qualified technician using genuine parts and following the manufacturer's schedule, your warranty remains fully intact.
At a dealership, you may speak with a service advisor who relays information between you and the technician. At WRSC, you speak directly with the mechanic working on your Porsche — getting clear, honest answers about what your car needs and why.
We use the same PIWIS diagnostic equipment as Porsche dealerships, source genuine OEM parts, and follow factory service schedules. The difference is personalised service, transparent communication, and component-level repair that saves you thousands — not a production line servicing every brand.
Porsche engineering spans six decades of continuous evolution — from air-cooled flat-sixes to water-cooled Mezger engines, from the first PDK to the current 8-speed, from the 911 to the all-electric Taycan. Every model demands brand-specific knowledge: the IMS bearing issue on 996/997s, the bore scoring tendency of early 3.8L engines, the coolant pipe pinning on Mezger V8s. Our workshop has the PIWIS software, the OEM parts network, and the technical depth to handle all of it — whether your Porsche is a daily-driver Macan or a weekend GT3.
COMMON PORSCHE PROBLEMS
Known issues across popular Porsche models — and how our specialist workshop resolves them without dealership pricing.
Pre-2009 911, Boxster and Cayman models with M96/M97 engines. The factory intermediate shaft bearing can fail, causing catastrophic engine damage.
Our fix: Preventative replacement with upgraded dual-row ceramic hybrid bearings or direct-oil-feed (DOF) retrofit kits during clutch or RMS service.
Sudden emergency transmission mode warnings. Usually caused by failed distance sensors or solenoid valves — not mechanical gear failure.
Our fix: Modular component-level repair — replacing sensors and solenoids, refreshing Pentosin fluid, and performing PIWIS clutch adaptation. A fraction of full gearbox replacement cost.
Cayenne, Macan and Panamera models. Chassis warning lights, uneven ride height, or dropped suspension corners from leaking air bladders or failed compressors.
Our fix: Leak-test the air system, replace damaged struts or valve blocks, rebuild or replace compressor, replenish with dry nitrogen, and calibrate ride height via PIWIS.
Early Cayenne V8 plastic coolant pipes become brittle and split. 911, Boxster and Cayman suffer cracked water pumps and thermostat housings.
Our fix: Install permanent aluminum coolant pipe upgrade kits on Cayenne V8s. Replace plastic water pumps with metal composite impellers and vacuum-fill the cooling system.
M96/M97 3.6L and 3.8L flat-6 engines. Thermal stress or coating breakdown causes piston skirt scoring — metallic ticking, oil consumption, and compression loss.
Our fix: Diagnostic borescope inspection through spark plug ports. Complete rebuild solutions with LN Engineering Nickies cylinder sleeves and upgraded forged pistons.
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes can chip or delaminate under track use or thermal stress. Dealership replacement rotors are extremely costly.
Our fix: Micrometer thickness and surface checks to assess remaining service life. We offer PCCB renewals, rotor resurfacing, or cost-effective OEM steel brake conversion kits.
Sydney Porsche owners don’t need to pay dealership prices to get dealership-level service. Since 1981, West Ryde Service Centre has been the alternative — a family-owned workshop on Victoria Road where Porsche drivers from Ryde, Eastwood, Epping, Gladesville, and the wider inner north bring their cars for honest, expert care.
The difference is immediately apparent when you walk in. You’re not filtered through a service advisor who’s never turned a wrench — you speak directly with the technician who’ll be under your bonnet. We’ll show you the PIWIS readout, explain what the fault codes mean in plain English, and give you a transparent quote before any work starts. Whether it’s a scheduled major service or a complex PDK diagnosis, you’re part of the conversation.
Every service is logged in accordance with Porsche factory schedules, using genuine OEM parts and approved lubricants (Mobil 1, Pentosin). Your warranty stays intact, your service history stays complete, and your Porsche stays properly maintained — just without the corporate overhead and inflated hourly rates of a main dealer.
Yes. Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), you are free to choose an indepenbrake and suspension repairer for routine servicing. As long as the service is performed according to Porsche’s logbook specifications by qualified technicians using genuine or OEM-compliant parts and approved lubricants, your new-car statutory warranty remains fully protected.
Standard Porsche factory intervals recommend minor maintenance every 15,000 km or 12 months, and major maintenance every 30,000 km or 24 months (whichever comes first). However, for Australian driving conditions, we recommend oil and filter changes every 10,000 km or 12 months to protect engine internals and oil seals.
Yes. We use genuine Porsche parts and OEM components from suppliers like Mobil 1, Fuchs, Mahle, ZF, Brembo, and Bilstein. All engine oil complies with factory approvals: Porsche A40 (high-performance petrol engines), Porsche C40 (modern GPF-equipped engines), or Porsche C30 (hybrid models).
We utilise the factory-level PIWIS Tester III and IV diagnostic platforms. This gives us complete access to all Porsche onboard control modules for guided fault tracing, module programming, PDK calibration, air suspension adaptation, and digital maintenance logbook entries — matching main dealership capability.
Absolutely. While dealerships routinely quote $20,000+ to replace an entire PDK assembly due to sensor fault codes, we specialise in component-level PDK repairs. We replace faulty distance sensors, speed sensors, and valve body solenoids, fit new pan filters, refresh Pentosin fluids, and perform PIWIS clutch adaptations at a fraction of the replacement cost.
Yes. We perform routine maintenance and diagnostics for the fully electric Porsche Taycan. This includes high-voltage system diagnostics using PIWIS, brake fluid flushes (critical due to thermal loads), cabin microfilter replacements, 2-speed rear gearset fluid service, thermal loop coolant maintenance, and suspension checks.
The Intermediate Shaft (IMS) bearing was fitted to M96 and M97 engines in Porsche 911 (996 and early 997) and Boxster/Cayman (986 and early 987) models produced between 1997 and 2008. If the sealed bearing fails, it causes severe internal engine damage. Direct fuel-injected (DFI) engines from 2009 onwards do not have an IMS bearing. We inspect and retrofit early engines with upgraded direct-oil-fed ceramic bearings.
Yes. We inspect, service, and repair PCCB systems. We check rotor wear using surface measurement and micrometer tolerances, replace wear sensors, and fit PCCB-specific brake pads. If replacement ceramic rotors prove cost-prohibitive, we also engineer and install direct-fit OEM steel brake conversion kits.
We service the entire Porsche range — 718 Boxster and Cayman, 911 (Carrera through GT3 RS), Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Taycan. Our workshop is equipped with PIWIS diagnostics, specialist Porsche tools, and genuine parts for every model in the current and recent Porsche lineup.
Independent servicing typically costs 25% to 40% less than a main dealership. These savings come from lower workshop overheads and component-level repair practices — fixing sub-assemblies rather than replacing entire systems — while maintaining factory diagnostic capability, original parts quality, and master technician workmanship.
Speak directly with a Porsche specialist. Transparent pricing, genuine parts, and dealership-level diagnostics — without the dealership price tag.
